Sort Angles by Type

About this exercise

Picking out one particular type of angle from several drawn side by side.

Example problems

A few of the problems this exercise asks. The printable worksheet holds ten fresh ones.

  1. Three angles are shown. Which one is the RIGHT angle? Angle A, Angle B, Angle C
  2. Three angles are shown. Which one is the OBTUSE angle? Angle A, Angle B, Angle C
  3. Three angles are shown. Which one is the ACUTE angle? Angle A, Angle B, Angle C

Try it yourself first — open a section below only if you get stuck.

How to solve it

Compare each drawing against the square corner of a sheet of paper. Narrower than that corner is acute, matching it is right, and wider is obtuse.

Worked example

Of three angles measuring 40, 90 and 130 degrees, only the middle one fits a square corner exactly.

Common mistake

Being swayed by the length of the arms. Long arms do not make an angle bigger — only the opening between them counts.
