Rotate Shape

About this exercise

Turning a shape about a point.

Example problems

A few of the problems this exercise asks. The printable worksheet holds ten fresh ones.

  1. By how many degrees has the shape been rotated clockwise? 90°, 180°, 270°

Try it yourself first — open a section below only if you get stuck.

How to solve it

Every point moves the same number of degrees around the center, keeping its distance from it unchanged.

Worked example

A quarter turn clockwise sends a point that was above the center to its right.

Common mistake

Confusing a rotation with a reflection. A rotation never mirrors the shape.
