How to solve it

For a single repeating digit, put it over 9. For two repeating digits, put them over 99, then simplify.

Worked example

0.333... is three ninths, which is one third.

Common mistake

Treating a repeating decimal as if it terminated. 0.333... is exactly one third, not 333 over 1000.
