How to solve it

Follow the horizontal axis to the point you want, then read across to the vertical scale. A steeper line means faster change.

Worked example

A line climbing from 20 to 50 across a month shows a rise of 30.

Common mistake

Reading a flat section as zero. Flat means unchanged, not empty.
