About this exercise

Putting several fractions in order.

How to solve it

Convert them all to a common denominator, or compare each against a familiar landmark such as one half.

Worked example

Over twelfths, two thirds is 8, three quarters is 9 and a half is 6, so the order is a half, two thirds, three quarters.

Common mistake

Ordering by numerator alone. One eighth is far smaller than two thirds despite the numerators.
