Hundred Chart

About this exercise

Finding a missing number on a hundred chart by using the structure of the grid.

Example problems

A few of the problems this exercise asks. The printable worksheet holds ten fresh ones.

  1. What number is missing from the hundred chart?

Try it yourself first — open a section below only if you get stuck.

How to solve it

Neighbors to the left and right differ by one. Neighbors above and below differ by ten, because each row holds exactly ten numbers.

Worked example

If the cell above the gap holds 34, the gap holds 34 + 10 = 44.

Common mistake

Moving vertically by one instead of ten. Going down a row always adds a whole ten, never a single unit.
