About this exercise

The link between an hourly rate, the hours worked and the total pay.

How to solve it

Pay is the rate times the hours. If the rate is missing, divide the pay by the hours. If the hours are missing, divide the pay by the rate.

Worked example

7 hours at 18 per hour is 126, and 126 earned over 7 hours means a rate of 18.

Common mistake

Multiplying when the question already gives the total. Check which of the three quantities is the one missing.
