Ask how many times the divisor fits into the number. Every division is a multiplication read backwards.
For 48 : 6, ask what times 6 gives 48. Since 8 x 6 = 48, the answer is 8.
Reversing the two numbers. 48 : 6 and 6 : 48 are entirely different — the amount being shared always comes first.
