Dividing a decimal by a whole number.
Split the decimal by place value and divide each part on its own: the ones separately, the tenths separately. The point in the answer keeps its position.
4.8 : 4 = 1.2, because 4 : 4 = 1 and 8 tenths : 4 = 2 tenths.
Shifting the point sideways. Dividing by a whole number leaves the decimal point exactly where it stood.
