About this exercise

Turning a percentage back into a decimal.

How to solve it

Divide by 100, which slides the decimal point two places to the left. Padding with a zero helps when the percentage has only a single digit.

Worked example

42 percent becomes 0.42, and 7 percent becomes 0.07 once the gap is padded.

Common mistake

Forgetting the padding zero. Seven percent is 0.07, while 0.7 would be seventy percent.
