Free interactive math game: Number Facts — Days, months, sides.... Part of the Numbers Around Us category on MathKite.

Example problems

Taken from the generator that powers this exercise. A fresh set appears every time the page is opened, and the printable worksheet holds ten of them.

  1. How many zeros are in one thousand?
  2. How many weeks are in a year?
  3. How many seconds are in a minute?
  4. How many zeros are in one million?

About this exercise

Recalling the everyday quantities that arithmetic keeps leaning on.

How to solve it

These are facts to know rather than calculate: 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 7 days in a week, 12 months in a year, 100 centimeters in a meter.

Worked example

A day holds 24 hours, so half a day is 12 hours.

Common mistake

Mixing up 60 and 100. Time runs in sixties, while the metric units run in tens and hundreds.
